Spencers Steak House

On June 10, 2008, I photographed some interiors of Spencers for Steaks and Chops inside the Hilton Garden Inn, in the Old Market on 10th and Dodge.  The owners are delightful people and I can whole heartedly recommend the food.  Without exaggeration, I can say it was the most amazing steak I’ve ever tasted!

A while back, I did some portraits of the Executive Director of the Peter Kiewit Institute - a happy client of several server cooling systems made by APC by Schneider Electric.  I really love doing commercial work!  It demands so much attention to detail, but it also allows a photographer to truly “sculpt light.”

high school senior chilling with carChris has been a friend of the family for years and he works at Fox Hollow Coffee.  For his signature plus session, we came up with all sorts of ideas to remember his senior year… hanging around the house, cooking in the kitchen, studying in the dining room, walking around the Old Market, chilling in the car, and sporting his favorite beverage: Diet Coke (coming soon!).

Mara and Pat

Mara and Pat were married on a beautiful (and warm!) day at the Magnolia Hotel.  The ceremony was outdoors in the courtyard (with a tent just in case it were to rain - thankfully it didn’t!); it was a lovely event with both Christian and Jewish traditions and great lighting conditions.  Very rarely does everything work together for a great ring shot, I love how the light glistens here on the ring just before Pat puts it on Mara’s finger.  The day was also filmed by Aaron and Molly at The Silver Screen.

Congratulations again, Mara and Pat!  I wish you well on your journey of marriage together, and look forward to seeing everyone again at the Viewing Premiere when you get back to Omaha.

Peter + Kendra

Peter had such a warm and confident presence and Kendra was kind and beautiful. Together, they had fabulous taste! The ceremony was at St. James with the reception following at the Ironwood Golf and Country Club.  Of course, we made a stop downtown for a couple fun shots before heading out onto the golf course for an impromptu bouquet toss and football game.  It was a wonderful day and we were honored to be a part of it!  Congratulations again!

A couple hours and hundreds of images later, we got some great stuff! The first one is my favorite - although we had a windy day that put up quite a fight, Megan made it look effortless and elegant.

Editorial portrait of High School Senior holding a birdcage in field with a bright blue sky as a backdropRain walks to the beat of a different drummer; she’s very unique and wanted something creative to celebrate her senior year.  Together, we collaborated to get some interesting images with an editorial feel.  We started in her home, walked to a nearby park, and finished up downtown in the old market at an antique store and old bookstore.  We couldn’t of asked for a better day because the weather was just beautiful - I love how deep that blue sky is in the field shot!

The reception was a detail heaven - so much care and attention went into creating a wonderful atmosphere. The highlight on the night was Cameo by Design wedding cakes (they truly are the best!), and bless Donna’s heart, she packed me a little to-go box before she left.  Or maybe it was the choo-choo train dance that Kyle started.  No, it was the father-daughter dance where both Megan and her father shared some tears.  Overall, it was a wonderful wedding experience.  Congratulations again Kyle and Megan!

The 2008 Omaha Bridal Show at the Holiday Inn

September 22, 2008 | Filed Under Omaha Bridal Show, Studio News | 3 Comments

Heather did a wonderful job putting together the booth - we couldn’t of done it without Brenda (and Jordan and Kylan for renting the truck and moving the couch).  Stephanie worked with me all day Saturday and Sunday and was so upbeat and cheery, she made it easy to forget how tired we all were.  It’s true that shared joy is doubled joy and shared burdens are half the load.  I’m so very proud of our team!  I can’t forget to mention her husband Mike helped tear everything down so we finished in a little over 30 minutes.

Indeed, it was a very long weekend; full coverage Saturday wedding (be on a look out for posted images 4 weeks from now), up at 5am for the Omaha Bridal Show on Sunday, and ending the night with our friend Gary’s 50th birthday bash. But we enjoyed every bit of it!

We wanted to say thank you to everyone who stopped by and saw us at the show! We met a lot of excited brides planning their weddings for 2009 and 2010. It seems May 23 and June 13 are popular dates for next year - we felt so bad for disappointing some brides because we were already booked. We also met some other photographers like Tanya of Candid Moments Photography and Jada Scott of Capturing Candids, and old friends like Terry Cue of Images by TLC. Hopefully the show provided everyone with lots of good information and gave a little hands on experience with the personalities and styles of the vendors.  We are happy to help anyway we can.
