Welcome to our blog! Based in Omaha, Nebraska, Kameron Bayne Images, Inc. is a professionally trained, award winning, creative and relational-driven photography studio. We are available for worldwide travel and aspire to create cinematic images with a soul, depth, and geniune character.

Although life extends far beyond our jobs, we are humbled and filled with gratitude photography is the kind of work that can express the intangible qualities of life and inspire us to live it more fully.  It is our belief that real life inspires beautiful, creative art and the more honest that art is, the more it inspires better living.  With this blog, we hope to explore the art form of photography, to grow as people, and find ways to contribute to the ever changing community of our world.  Along the way, we hope to provide a glimpse into the daily life of our studio. If you join us and read along for a while, we’d be honored if you let us know and bless us with a comment or two!

Kameron Bayne, Photographer
With an educational background in philosophy, theology, interpersonal communication and conflict resolution, the first thing you may notice about Kameron is he’s awful at small talk.  But don't let that fool you!  He really enjoys getting to know people and has a gift for sorting out complicated ideas. A true artist at heart, the beauty he sees in life is inspired most by the invisible qualities of love, faith, and hope. Once behind the camera, his quiet presence becomes a source of confidence for our clients as they invite him into a small, but significant part of their lives.

Heather Bayne, Viewing Director
Heather is a genuinely caring, technical savvy, task accomplisher and problem solver (she used to take calculus classes in college just for fun!). With a positive and upbeat attitude, she heads up each viewing premiere. She also maintains the back-end of our computer systems, helps occasionally with retouching or album design and corrects Kameron when he mispronounces words.

Brenda Block, Client Relations
Disarming, outgoing and generous–Brenda loves people and can often be found chatting with anyone from the corner grocery store clerk to the CEO of a fortune 500 company. She will be the one to help you get acquainted with our studio and walk through the entire creation process. She’ll also be there at the end to ensure you had a wonderful experience working with us.

Leanna & Paul Wedding

Paul and Leanna are a sweet couple with a warm family.  They were happily married on the hottest day of the summer at St. James Catholic Church with a reception at The Scoular Building Ballroom; we also stopped by the Durham Museum for some fun pictures.  It was a very special day for a number of reasons, 1). it was Justin’s due date so 2). the talented Geoff Johnson was on board to help photograph their wedding, and 3). it was also Leanna’s birthday.  Her family gave her a meaningful birthday gift and sung a little song based on the “I loved her first” single by Heartland.  To top off the evening, the reception was a full of a warm and spirited atmosphere thanks to James at Complete Music.  It was a very special day indeed!

December 5, 2009 - 12:37 am Paul - Kameron, those photos look amazing! I can't wait until we can see the rest of them. I love how you got Leanna's eyes to look so blue!

Doctor’s Office Visit

Burnout is a serious threat to many photographers and creative professionals. Somewhere down the road they stop loving what they do. Creating art turns into “just work” with no perceived escape and sadly, they slowly die inside. Over and over again, I’ve been told the remedy is simple: take time to create art just for you – invest in creating your own personal work. Sounds easy, right?

Once a week, I try to do just that.  But it is much easier said than done.  Every day, more “responsibilities” unexpectedly call or demand attention. Part of which is just life and thus unavoidable; but I’m learning a much larger part is the mindset in which these “interruptions” are handled.  This week, our four-month-old suddenly became sick for the first time (it’s heartbreaking to hear him hack a cough with little tears in his eyes!) and we had to take him to see the doctor.  Fortunately, he was given some medicine to help him breathe and should recover in a week or so.  I guess what I’m trying to say is that even in the midst of a stressful day, I still saw beauty present all around me.  I’m glad I brought my camera for a few quick shots to remind me what keeps my love alive.

December 1, 2009 - 4:40 pm Cara - Great post Kameron. Thanks for the reminder to create art just for me. Something I'm passionate about and enjoy and don't worry if others will love or not. Also, love the photo of your little guy. Hope he's feeling up to par very soon! :)

It’s a Dog Party!

Four month old catching up on his reading with Grandma

If you’ve ever read the childhood book “Go, Dog, Go!” then you might understand why people randomly exclaim, “It’s a dog party!”  I wasn’t familiar with the book and had no idea why my wife Heather would say this phrase every once and awhile.  That is, until this Thanksgiving weekend when I found Grandma exclaiming this same sentence while reading to Justin.  It was a favorite childhood memory of my wife’s family that is now being passed on to a younger generation.

Meet Emily and Lou.  Together they’ve got a great sense of style, positive charismatic energy, and a real and inspiring connection with each other.   They’re also professional photographers in their hometown of Tucson, Arizona!  Needless to say, I had a lot of fun working with them and can’t wait to do it again on their wedding day in 2010.  Good times!

November 28, 2009 - 1:23 pm Carly - Ooooh VERY stylish!! What a great match :)

November 29, 2009 - 11:14 pm Carly Konecny - These are amazing! You two look so happy. I can't wait to see all of them :)

Cory + Liz | Newly Wed Couple

Cory and Liz tied the knot October 24th at St. John Vianney and celebrated with a reception at the Embassy Suites LaVista.  As the last wedding for us this year, we went out with a bang!  It had all the right ingredients for a beautiful wedding day: a genuine & shared love, supportive family & friends, a beautiful ceremony, a gorgeous reception venue, and of course amazing chocolate cake (decorated with fresh raspberries in the shape of a Big Red Cornhusker “N”)!  The only thing that didn’t go according to plan was the weather – it started to rain right as we were set to do some outdoor pictures downtown.  But Cory and Liz had a great attitude and rolled with the hiccups.  With a little improvisation, we got some amazing images that I’m really proud to show off.  A big congrats goes out to these two and their new families – I wish you the best!

Josh, Class of 2010 | Elkhorn Senior

Josh is a drummer and a Kansas Jayhawks fan. We played a little basketball, did some tricks with the drum sticks and roamed around downtown Omaha. The more we shot, the more fun it became and I think the results are pretty cool.

Naptime Escape!

Kameron Bayne Images - The Great Baby Escape (from his SwaddleMe wrap)

Justin woke up from his nap all happy and talkative.  It’s not that unusual, but to my surprise, he had a lot more to be happy about today.  He managed to free an arm and two legs from his SwaddleMe bundle (i.e. the burrito wrap) and I have no idea how he did it….  He seemed pretty proud too. Mighty impressive, son.  :)

Brittany, Class of 2010

For Brittany’s session, she brought a few friends (and her family!) as we created some personalized images at her home on a lake.  Nearby, there were some cool trees and old train tracks full of childhood memories.  It was a bit cold outside, but Brittany didn’t let it bother her too much and we got a lot of great images.  Hope you enjoy the rest of your senior year, Brittany!

Help-Portrait

Jeremy Cowart has organized an amazing and simple idea that reconnects photographers with the heart of why they create. In a season where a lot of photographers are over-worked and on the verge of burnout, something like this might seem like a lot more work than they can squeeze out of themselves right now.  At least, I feel that way sometimes.  But what I like about this idea, is that it’s not just another “good thing” I could do if I had the time, energy, or resources.  It’s an opportunity to connect with the spirit of the holidays in a tangible way and share life and the gift of a photograph with someone I might not otherwise ever cross paths with – perhaps someone who has never been photographed before.  What’s more exciting is that this kind of movement isn’t done alone, but together with a community of other photographers (thanks to Christine Pagan for all her work with starting a local Help-Portrait chapter here in Omaha).

It inspires me because it’s much like the nature of love itself.  Love must be given to receive it, but it’s not really love if that’s why it’s being given.

The Healing Horse

Kameron Bayne Images - Horse for Hospice Care

Occasionally, I get an opportunity to photograph for AseraCare Hospice which is an organization that seeks to give dignity to the dying.  Each time I volunteer (even though it’s hard, uncomfortable and even painful sometimes), I am put back in touch with the profound realities of how short and how important our lives really are.  Today, I met a man who loved horses all his life (one of his prized possessions is an old portrait of him with his favorite animal) and a couple who brought their own horse by to visit all the patients.

It’s amazing how a simple act of petting a horse can bring about a great deal of joy for one man, his children and all his grandchildren.  It’s a joy that’s contagious.

November 30, 2009 - 1:05 pm Emilie - Very touching post...
