Dan and Janine’s Wedding

November 13, 2008 | Filed Under Omaha Wedding Photography | 1 Comment

Janine and Dan were married on September 20 at the Magnolia Hotel for a beautiful wedding celebration.  Heather and I got to know this fun, loving, and creative couple when we traveled to Iowa City for their engagement session and we had a blast!  As a creative soul and a true collaborative partner, Janine was full of ideas and suggestions to get the best possible results.  Their wedding day was no exception.  We got tons of great images and are so glad to have spent the day with Dan and Janine as they publically declared their love for each other.  To add to the fun, Corrie from Corrie and Andrey Photographers (the folks who photographed my wedding), helped as a second photographer.

Mara and Pat

Mara and Pat were married on a beautiful (and warm!) day at the Magnolia Hotel.  The ceremony was outdoors in the courtyard (with a tent just in case it were to rain - thankfully it didn’t!); it was a lovely event with both Christian and Jewish traditions and great lighting conditions.  Very rarely does everything work together for a great ring shot, I love how the light glistens here on the ring just before Pat puts it on Mara’s finger.  The day was also filmed by Aaron and Molly at The Silver Screen.

Congratulations again, Mara and Pat!  I wish you well on your journey of marriage together, and look forward to seeing everyone again at the Viewing Premiere when you get back to Omaha.

Peter + Kendra

Peter had such a warm and confident presence and Kendra was kind and beautiful. Together, they had fabulous taste! The ceremony was at St. James with the reception following at the Ironwood Golf and Country Club.  Of course, we made a stop downtown for a couple fun shots before heading out onto the golf course for an impromptu bouquet toss and football game.  It was a wonderful day and we were honored to be a part of it!  Congratulations again!

The reception was a detail heaven - so much care and attention went into creating a wonderful atmosphere. The highlight on the night was Cameo by Design wedding cakes (they truly are the best!), and bless Donna’s heart, she packed me a little to-go box before she left.  Or maybe it was the choo-choo train dance that Kyle started.  No, it was the father-daughter dance where both Megan and her father shared some tears.  Overall, it was a wonderful wedding experience.  Congratulations again Kyle and Megan!

Nick and Mattea

Nick and Mattea are truly wonderful people - we met them over a year ago and photographed their engagement at the Creighton Campus. Nick is friendly and disarming. Mattea is stunning and sweet. Together, they make a beautiful couple.  It was a full day that started at St. Cecilia, transitioned at Creighton, and finished up at the Joslyn Art Museum.  Here are a few of my favorites!

Joe + Jenny

Joe and Jenny had a beautifully moving wedding full of emotional music, energetic family, and of course, good food!  After knowing Joe for almost 10 years now, I couldn’t imagine anything less.  Joe was emotional and expressive, Jenny was absolutely gorgeous, and together they lit up the sky with laughter and tears of joy.

Thanks to some other photographer friends, we had a chance to try out a new idea for wedding receptions.  As a way to remember all the guests, we setup a photobooth and photographed people as they stopped by.  But we wanted more than to just document they were there.  We wanted to showcase more of people’s personality and create some interesting character study portraits.  Check out the results with this slideshow.

Congratulations Joe and Jenny! Can’t wait to show you the album tonight at the viewing session!

Holly & Dan’s Wedding

Currently Dan and Holly are living in Germany with their little baby girl as Holly serves our country in the military.  On June 14, they had their wedding here in Omaha at the Magnolia Hotel with family and friends.  The wedding decor was beautiful with a personal touch to make it unique - the groom’s cake was sculpted as characters from The Nightmare Before Christmas, several guests wore their biker gear, complete with leather and chains, and a pair of sunglasses from Air Wolf kept popping up throughout the day.

Overall, we got some beautiful images! Here are some of my favorites including a stunning portrait of Holly, Dan looking cooler than a rock star, and a tender moment between a father and his daughter.

John & Anna

Just weeks before the wedding, Anna found out the church started a major construction project so there was bright yellow scaffolding on the outside of the chapel. Then just days before, she found out her reception site, the Durham Museum (formerly the Western Heritage Museum), was also under construction and decorated with more lovely scaffolding. Trying to look on the bright side, she said, “At least they’ll match.” Despite pending disaster (the limo air conditioner even gave out on them!), John and Anna didn’t let it spoil their day. They focused on what was important, shared it with their family (with some traveling all the way from Korea), and we all had a great time! Oh yeah, and the pictures turned out amazing too!  Congratulations to you both!

On May 25, I helped photograph a wedding with Geoff Johnson - an outstanding photographer and all around great guy.  Geoff spends his days shooting commercially for Malone and Co., along with Andrew Marinkovich, who regularly helps with Geoff’s weddings. With all three of us shooting, we broke Geoff’s all time record and filled over 40 gigs of hard drive space with 8,000 images!
