Kameron Bayne Images - Omaha Engagement Session, Omaha Wedding PhotographyKameron Bayne Images - Omaha Engagement Session, Omaha Wedding PhotographyIt was a goregous day with perfect spring weather for pictures!  For Brian and Christi’s engagement session, we went to the restaurant where they had their first date. We walked around the old market and ended on top of the First National building to see the sunset… It was a breath-taking experience (literally - I was clinging to the side of the wall)!  Thanks guys for putting that together; it was worth it, we got some great images.  See you soon for the viewing premiere!

Dan & Holly

At the moment, Holly lives overseas so her visit to Omaha was short lived and very busy. Unfortunately the weather didn’t want to cooperate with the small window we had. It was rainy and gloomy and predicted to get worse (snow!). But we were able to work with what we were given - thanks to  David Turner and a story he told me about his first magazine shoot - we grabbed an umbrella and got some unique, beautiful and interesting images!

Dan & Janine

For Dan and Janine, Iowa City is the backdrop to their dating memories so we traveled to get some images in their favorite spots. We had an amazing time - the weather was beautiful - a bit cold, but hard to notice in the midst of so much activity. And the company was great. :) Without a doubt, you two have been our most creative and adventurous couple yet! Thanks for contributing so many ideas - I love the results! And I guess so do a few regional PPA judges - one print from the session won an honorable mention award at the Heart of America (affiliated with Professional Photographers of America) print competition. More on that in a later post.

Weekend to Remember

Sometimes, I am overcome by spontaneous laughter - an eruption of joy springs forth from the belly of my soul. It comes from a moment when life suddenly makes sense or from a subtle reminder I am loved or from a simple thought that God is good. And this weekend, I was given many more reasons to smile at life. Heather and I went to the Family Life marriage conference, Weekend to Remember. It was held at the 4 diamond Hilton Hotel next to the Quest Center so the lobby was filled with hundreds of Bruce Springsteen fans the first night (the guest speakers even met a few of the E Street Band members on a trolley ride).

The event was a wonderful and healing time for us. Mostly because it gave us tools and space to talk about a few small weeds that have crept into our relationship. Without which, I don’t think we would of noticed. It also gave us an inspiring vision for parenthood. Greg Speck, a speaker Heather saw years ago in Spain when she was a kid, brought me to tears when he talked about the good man his father was and the kind of father he has now become.

He used to always put the kids to bed and for the first few years he was annoyed because they wouldn’t stop asking him questions. He always wanted to rush through it so he could spend time with his wife. But something clicked one day and he realized he was missing out on a great opportunity to really get to know his children. For the little ones, he crawled into bed with them and started asking them questions like, “If you were an animal what kind would you be?” or “If you could get anything at Toys ‘R’ Us right now, what would it be?” and even deeper questions like, “Is there anything you wish Dad wouldn’t do?” For the older ones, he sat on the edge of the bed or grabbed a chair and talked about how they were feeling about various things in their life. During these interactions, rich moments were shared throughout the years, and his children never doubted they were loved. Wow - I want to be the kind of man my children could freely trust with their hearts.

The best part is that we could share this experience - a couple of our friends and clients came too!

Thanks so much - I really enjoyed getting to know you both. I had such a great time I wish we could do it all over again; of course I’d wait until it warms up first! Anyway, I hope you had a wonderful Valentine’s Day, and I’ll see you both soon at the viewing session.

Meet Nick & Mattea

I really enjoyed getting to know this lovely couple! Nick is both cool and considerate, and Mattea is beautiful and has great personal taste. For an artful approach to their relationship; we took a walk with their dog around Lake Zorinsky, found cool spots on the Creighton Campus, and finished at the studio.

Joe & Jenny

I’ve known Joe for years… in fact, the first time I met him was at his high school graduation party. Do you remember that Joe? My time has flown by! - since then Joe has become an accomplished musician (and a savvy computer tech guy) and has played for a number of area bands from Pedestrian, Arbor Vitae, to Adam Weaver and the Ghosts to name a few. And now Joe’s getting married to Jenny (a hard working elementary teacher)! Here a few images from our engagement session.

Chris & Rachel

We went out to the spot of their first date together and re-enacted their first kiss. Rachel was so adorable and kept saying, “Do it again!”I love knowing people over a span of time, because it’s only after an accumulation of shared experiences that the depth of who we are begins to emerge. We photographed Chris and Rachel’s wedding last December while on break from Hallmark, and we’re grateful to have known them before they were married, as they got married and now coming up on their first anniversary. As they change, it’s interesting how the photographs change with them.

It was a little chilly outside so afterwards we went to Jimmy John’s to warm up. Mmm, mmm, good bread!

Meet Dan & Danielle

We walked around the Creighton Campus finding great light and making beautiful photographs! Heather and I had a wonderful time with these two - they’re laid back and quite fun to be around. At one point, Dan and Danielle raced each other all the while joking and making false starts trying to catch the other off guard… Dan won (I think he cheated!), but all in good fun!

We couldn’t of asked for a more beautiful day. Hopefully the weather will cooperate on the actual wedding day!
